Plot Summary

1893. Central India. Champaner's villagers are waiting in vain for the monsoon. In order to humiliate this people nearly dying of starvation, Captain Russel, leader of the British garrison, wants to double lagaan, the cereal tax. The officer proposes a terrible bet to Bhuvan, the young man who leads the protestation against this injustice : if the Indian beat the English during a cricket match, they'll be exempt from lagaan during 3 years ; if they loose, they'll have to pay triple-tax. Bhuvan agrees. Supported by Gauri, a childhood friend who's in love with him, he has only 3 months to find volunteers for his team and initiate them to an unknown and complicated sport. But the captain's sister, the beautiful Elizabeth, is also sensitive to Bhuvan's charm and decides to help the villagers...
In this struggle for honnor and survy, and 'till the end of the game, no holds barred.

Why a fanlisting dedicated to Lagaan ? I just loved the movie. It was so surprising, I didn't expect to like an indian movie, that futhermore last 3h40. The movie is different from Bollywood's traditionnal productions, and that's what make it so refreshing.
I also wanted to meet other fans, all over the world, to see if the movie was known and liked.
